Containly 2.7.0: Workflows

  1. Containly team

Containly 2.7.0 is out. It brings Workflows, a new Pro feature that automates routine reactions on your hosts, without any scripting.

    What workflows do

A workflow is a rule: when something happens, Containly checks a few conditions and then runs predefined steps, with an optional otherwise branch.

    • Triggers: container unhealthy, container exited (optionally only OOM), restart loop, host offline or back online, sustained CPU or memory, backup finished, and a schedule (hourly, chosen weekdays, monthly).
    • Conditions: CPU or memory, how long the state lasted, data freshness, host reachable, backup target reachable, not held by a running backup or restore.
    • Steps: notify (in-app and/or e-mail), restart, start or stop a container, run a backup plan, update a container, wait until healthy, wait.

    20 templates in six groups

Health and recovery, Backups, Updates, Hosts, CPU and memory, Schedules and maintenance. Pick a template, choose the containers, stacks, hosts or backup plans it may touch, and enable it. New workflows start as drafts and do nothing until you enable them. Your own workflows sit under My workflows.

    Safe by design

    • Changing steps only act on containers or stacks you picked explicitly, never on a whole host.
    • An update only runs after a successful backup earlier in the same run. A failed backup, or one with warnings, blocks the update.
    • Cooldowns and a circuit breaker (default three changing actions per hour, then paused until an admin re-arms it).
    • Simulate shows which steps would run without changing anything; Run now runs the real steps once with every safety check.
    • Every run is in the history with its condition results and step trace, and every action is in the audit log as "Workflow: <name>".

Workflows are Pro. On Free you can look at the templates; if a licence lapses, workflows pause and resume on their own once Pro is active again. The interface is available in English, German and Spanish. You can try workflows in the demo at https://demo.containly.ch (simulate works there, nothing is executed).

    Update

    docker compose pull
    docker compose up -d

Or use the one-click self-update in the app. Guide: https://containly.ch/help/workflows
